Brother Morphine

The Deadstring Brothers hail from Detroit. There are no brothers in the band - heck, they aren't even all guys. They've got a good handle on the post-Gram Parsons era of rocking country music, with a twist of early 1970s Rolling Stones added in. I could well imagine them sharing a stage with Asteroid No. 4. Good live performers too.

Kurt Marschke on guitar.

On the other hand, bassist Philip Skarich does look a bit like he could be Kurt's brother, doesn't he? Philip is also in The Witches, a major recommendation in my book.

Backup vocalist and percussionist Masha Marjieh.

Drummer E. Travis Harrett.

Organist Ross Westerbur.

The Deadstring Brothers have had some pretty auspicious names help out on steel, including Tommy Spurlock - obviously this isn't him, being too young by a few decades.

Brotherly action!

There were no surprises, but a healthy response from the crowd and good solid entertainment.
