Electric company

There's been a lot of Lightning in Ottawa lately - and I'm not talking about the kind that was thundering and crashing away Thursday night. No, Toronto's Flash Lightnin are one of those bands who tour and play a lot, starting with a residency in their hometown at the Dakota Tavern. Their name made regular appearances in my show reminders, and just a couple of weeks after this gig on the Black Sheep Stage at Bluesfest they were opening for the Eagles of Death Metal at the Capital Music Hall.

Them Flashy ones.

Darcy Yates came within a hair of winning the festival's "Best Beard" contest.

Pictures likes these remind of how much sharper the focus on my Nikon is than my Olympus.

On the other hand, I probably should have been focussing on guitarist Darren Glover and not on Henry at this point.

The trio's schedule is remarkably uncluttered for the next little while - only three dates announced from now until December ... but one is in Wales, so that has to count for something.
  • Show reminder; Ukrainia perform at the Royal Oak this afternoon; it's a battle between good and evil at The Rainbow with Evil Farm Children facing off against Bible All-Stars. Kram Ran and Adam Saikaley perform at the Umi Cafe; The Sedatives release their new LP with Germ Attak and The Brutal Knights at Babylon; The Lovely Feathers, Black Hat Brigade and Giant Hand perform at the third night of i(heart)music fest at Cafe DeKcuf. Whitewashed and Hot Shot Casino play Zaphod's. Hobson's Choice play Irene's.
