In the pines

The Deep Dark Woods played a fine but somewhat waterlogged set at this year's Bluesfest, and attracted a fair-sized crowd. Fronted by Ryan Boldt and featuring bassist Chris Mason, drummer Lucas Goetz, guitarist Burke Barlow and keyboard player Geoff Hilhorst, the band seems to be deeply entwined in worship of The Band, like so many other Canadian combos. Ryan even had a sort of Dylanish mumble going on between songs.

Geoff rocks the Hammond.

A really good set - I'm sorry I missed them when they played town recently with Elliott Brood.
