Deaf and blind

Bronson St. seems to have spawned a disproportionate amount of house-show homes; I've been to at least three different venues, the latest of which was at No. 373. Back in the middle of January I went to see a trio of loud acts: Loviatar, Mountanaka and Alaskan. According to the 45th rune of the Kalavela - the epic poem of Finland crafted by Elias Lonnrot - Loviatar is the blind daughter of Tuoni, the god of death, and among other thing "Worst of all the Death-land women," "source of all the host of evils, all the ills and plagues of Northland," and "... black in heart and soul and visage." Fans of D&D may remember her being reconfigured as a whip-wielding hottie. As for the sound of the band, it's doom rock played out over two long tunes.

On the left, Mike Bond of the Late 94s and Sleeping Pilot, on the right, Justin, also of Sleeping Pilot, Army of St. Joan, Long Timers, Death March Volunteers, etc.

Justin recommended everyone got earplugs before the start of the show. This was good advice.

The whole lot.

That wasn't all that black in heart and soul and visage, but it was mighty loud.
