Vested interests

The Uncles brought the night to a close with some fun party band rock. You could run the gamut of rock'n'roll from the 1950s to the modern day and pick an influence from each decade, starting with rockabilly, moving on to frat rock, then to surf, punk rock, hard rock, grunge and so on. Just add sweater vests, and hey presto, The Uncles.

And a kilt - did I mention the kilt? - as modelled by bassist Justin?

They've got a bunch of shows coming up, starting with a May 30 gig at the Ravens Wing DIY Festival in Minto Park, followed by a June 5 gig at the Atomic Rooster and a June 9 show at The Rainbow.
  • Show reminder: Kelp continues to celebrate its 16th with another show at the Mayfair. Folk legend Bill Fox, Andrew Vincent and Leif Vollebekk do the honours. Right By Midnight, The Retreat and Eric D'Angelo at Zaphod Beeblebrox; Papa Shango, Broken Sons and James Plouffe and The Shotgun Wedding are at the Rainbow; Chris Bartos and The Racoons and Pamela Brennan are at Irene's; Jed Rached and The Fat City 8 swing into the Elmdale House; Kristen Young and Andy Buchanan are at The Avant-Garde; The Mighty Pop and some other nice folks pay tribute to Bob Marley at Babylon.
