Warp speed

It's amazing what a little R&R will do for you - I actually felt vaguely alert for the final round of Gaga Weekend 2010. Perhaps it was the beach-friendly sounds of Cold Warps that perked me up. I'm a big fan of the lo-fi pop of bands like Best Coast, Wavves, Jaill and all those other bands who can't spell, and I'd rank the Halifax quartet right up there with them. They may look like hardcore kids, but inside beats a heart of pure fuzz.

But first, Stephane the Man spins the hits.

And they're off: Dominique Taylor on guitar, Paul Hammond on vocals and Lance Purcell on drums.
