Shouting out for love

Little Scream is the stage name of Laurel Sprengelmeyer, a Montreal-based performer who has toured with folks like Owen Pallett (with whom she shares a fondness for looping sounds) and Land of Talk (with whom she shares a fondness for emotional nudity). Listening to her music online I found myself thinking first of Joanna Newsom, then of Bon Iver. She reminds me quite a bit of Sarah Hallman. I can certainly see why she'd fit on a tour with Julie Doiron. Like Doiron she gave a disarming between-song explanation of hos she deals with stage fright. She put on a show that was a bit more forceful than what I've heard of her recorded work, and she sounded quite lovely despite some unfortunate microphone feedback.  On the other hand she got a big boost from from drummer Jimmy "J'aime Tambour" Thompson, last seen on this blog performing with The Unicorns and Islands.

First, a bit of pre-show gear-testing.

The keyboard was set aside, with some tape to hold down a couple of keys so it could be incorporated as neccesary.
