Cave comes alive

Up until about 1 a.m. Tuesday I had no particular plans for the day, but while prepping last night's post I noticed that Liturgy wasn't the only act headed for Pop Montreal with plans to make a stop in Ottawa: Chicago's Cave was also going to make an appearance. I picked up their Hunt Like Devils/Jamz duel-EP from Sounds Unlikely a while ago and was mighty impressed, so off to Zaphod's I went. Unfortunately not many people seem to have heard, or have heard of them, so there was only six people in attendance. Also, the opening act couldn't make it and last-minute attempts to round up a replacement were unsuccessful (The Band Whose Name Is A Symbol would have been an ideal fill-in). Still, it was a good and heady hour of mind-expanding rock.

Despite the underwhelming, albeit enthusiastic turnout, it seems all the guys there were big vinyl fans - the band at least sold a fair amount of LPs. They're playing Pop Montreal tonight with Liturgy and PC Worship.
  • Show reminder: Univox and Awkward I make cool sounds at Raw Sugar Cafe; Bayside, Transit, Sharks & Ladders and Landslider play Mavericks; more punks at the Kent St. Legion with Stuck Out Here, Permanent Bastards, Finders Keepers, Eeries and Carry Yourself. The Cowards brave The Rainbow's stage along with Pretty Little Death Machine and Prett Melberts and The Best Friend Patrol.
