Impossible spaces

Off to Raw Sugar for an evening of folk-pop ... Nov. 3 doesn't seem so far away, perhaps because the shows I've seen at the cafe are starting to blend into one packed coffee house. Good new for the artists and I presume the space. As for myself, I'm going to start going early!

Ryan Driver opened the set with some Bryter Later-styled folk, and got to use the same chair as he backed Perri moments later.

Perri enjoyed a very adept backing band ... here's bassist and keyboardist Mike Smith.

The whole fisheyed lot. You cannot really make out guitarist Jay Anderson, or for that matter drummer Dan Gaucher.

He's got a few U.S. dates at the end of March and the beginning of April.
  • Show reminder: Master lutist Josef Van Wissem performs at the Mercury Lounge. The Elmdale hosts Tim’s Myth, The 444s and Tara Halloway. The Justin Lacroix Band and Rhys Williams perform at the Avant-Garde.
