Seeing double

There was some hot rock'n'roll action at Pressed Sunday night, with The Ketamines and Zebrassieres sandwiching a hot set from Chains of Love. Since Andy from Zebrassieres and Paul Lawton both moved to Toronto, they apparently decided simultaneously to get new lineups of their respective bands ... thus you will see some overlap in the photos below.

In addition to to being supremo of Mammoth Cave , Lawton's earned some ink - and some vitriol - for masterminding the Slagging Off tumblr.

And here's Andy doing some singing and guitar-slinging. Alexander Hamlyn and Jesse Locke round out the band (Zebs keyboardist Sara Ford is also a Ketamine now, but she wasn't on hand this evening).

On to Chains of Love, who put on one of the best shows I've seen this year. Some serious shimmying and shaking - not to say wanton tambourine demolition - from singer Nathalia Pizzaro. She's definitely a devotee of the Tina Turner school of tearing up the stage. I was also thinking the band sounded like Shocking Blue (I'm sure others have made the comparison already) - then they busted out a cover of Send Me A Postcard.

Guitarist Felix Fung is also a respected recording studio guy; as for bassist Al Boyle I was certain for a while there he was Scott Mucklow of Starvin' Hungry. He just looks kind of similar, though.

On to Zebrassieres ... which is also Alex, Paul, Jesse and Andy!
