Sing some sad songs

Last night I toddled over to Pressed to check out a couple of singer-songwriters. Mohawk Lodge is on tour through North America, but apparently Ryder Havdale's backing group the Fight surrendered and split for home somewhere around the Carolinas. Thus, it was just a couple of solo sets, starting with Andre M. Bluteau.

Andre M. Bluteau's voice reminds me of Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse; his music is quite spare.

He was switching between playing guitar and piano. "Sorry for the musical chairs."

"Here's another sad one."

Although Havdale's tour seems to have been on the stressful side - he got a message saying his grandmother had passed away the same day as his band headed for home - he was in good spirits.

There were a lot of pals in the crowd.
