Suns, stones and bros

I took a brief jaunt Friday night to check out some hard-rocking action at Cafe DeKcuf. Since I saw them last, at Babylon in April 2007, headliners Diemonds' star has risen ever-so slightly, and there was a pretty full house for the show. I got to the Cafe and missed a big chunk of opener Suns of Stone's set. They have a bluesier sound than the other bands, with perhaps a bit of Seattle grunge mixed in.

Jimmy King handles the guitar duties.

Bassist Andrew Erlandson and drummer Alex Scott round out the combo.

Hellbros held down the middle spot. They always put on a great set.

Mat Spag bought a pair of chaps in Arizona, and it was more or less all he wore for this show ....

On to Diemonds. When I saw them more than seven years ago they were a quartet. Only guitarist C.C. and singer Priya remain from that lineup, but it's the same Motlety Crue-loving sound on offer. Here's some bass action with Tommy Cee.

My schedule now has me getting up at 5:30 a.m., so I split early.
