Dynamic duos

It sometimes seems you can't throw a brick without hitting an indie duo featuring a drummer and bassist, but it wasn't always so. One of the first outfits to forget to hire a guitarist was Winnipeg's Duotang - and they're still one of a few to play pop (or at least, mod rock). The Winnipeg combo released a cluster of records on Mint in the late 1990s and early naughts, but have since reunited and released New Occupation (this time on Stomp). Their reunion tour took them through the House of Targ on Wednesday. It was a small crowd but a good time. Locals No Fuss provided a punkier take on the bass-and-drums lineup to open things up. Here's Chris, of sundry Centretown Alliance-linked acts, and Mark.

Duotang played a great set, with a lot of new material that sounds just as good as their older stuff - also a fine cover of The Pixies' Hey. Here's Sean!
